چکیده

We study lead time options in a manufacturer and a retailer supply chain where the retailer uses the (R, Q) inventory policy: the retailer places an order to the manufacturer who uses a transporter to deliver the order a lead time later. The manufacturer promises to expedite or postpone the delivery (using its own means or different transportation options) by a certain amount of time if the retailer makes such a request. Consequently, the retailer has an option to modify the lead time by using most up-to-date demand information. However, the retailer does not modify the order quantity. We establish the optimal lead time policy and provide approximations for the critical levels associated with it. We also discuss that R is much more sensitive to lead times than Q, and primarily focus on finding optimal R. Towards that, a cost approximation which yields unimodular costs in R is provided. Finally, the effect of lead time options on supply chain performance is illustrated with a numerical study.

Lead Time Options in Supply Chain

We study lead time options in a manufacturer and a retailer supply chain where the retailer uses the (R, Q) inventory policy: the retailer places an order to the manufacturer who initially promises to deliver the order a lead time later. The manufacturer also promises to expedite or postpone the delivery of the order by a certain amount of time if the retailer makes such a request. Consequently...

Optimal (R, Q) policy and pricing for two-echelon supply chain with lead time and retailer’s service-level incomplete information

Many studies focus on inventory systems to analyze different real-world situations. This paper considers a two-echelon supply chain that includes one warehouse and one retailer with stochastic demand and an up-to-level policy. The retailer’s lead time includes the transportation time from the warehouse to the retailer that is unknown to the retailer. On the other hand, the warehouse is unaware ...

Inventory Cost Evaluation Under VMI Program with Lot Splitting

This paper aims to evaluate inventory cost of a Two-echelon serial supply chain system under vendor managed inventory program with stochastic demand, and examine the effect of environmental factors on the cost of overall system. For this purpose, we consider a two-echelon serial supply chain with a manufacturer and a retailer. Under Vendor managed inventory program, the decision on inventory ...

Deriving the Exact Cost Function for a Two-Level Inventory System with Information Sharing

In this paper we consider a two-level inventory system with one warehouse and one retailer with information exchange. Transportation times are constant and retailer faces independent Poisson demand. The retailer applies continuous review (R,Q)-policy. The supplier starts with m initial batches (of size Q), and places an order to an outside source immediately after the retailer’s inventory posit...

Coordination of Pricing, Ordering, and Lead time Decisions in a Manufacturing Supply Chain

In this paper, an incentive policy is proposed to coordinate ordering, lead time, and pricing strategies in a two-echelon manufacturing supply chain (SC) consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer. The system is faced with a stochastic demand which depends on both price and lead time. The manufacturer decides on production size and manufacturing acceleration rate while the retailer determi...
